Foraging for Arts & Crafts Workshop

  • West Milford Public Library 1470 Union Valley Road West Milford, NJ, 07480 United States (map)

How do you think we made things like paper, paints, prints, dyes, decorations and works of art before we had electricity? If we didn’t have electricity, and you couldn’t buy them in a store, would you know how to create these essentials for you and your family? This interactive workshop will spark your curiosity and show you ways you can utilize the natural world like our ancestors once did by foraging and crafting what they needed. Our presenter is Tara Spear, an Appalachian trail thru-hiker, forager, social worker, artist, and avid nature-connector. Her deep experience and partnership with the land provides a simple yet powerful framework for what makes sense to take and what to leave alone.

*Tara will also be leading our hands-on field trip to forage and use what we find together on Saturday May 18th from 12:30-3:30 and you can sign up at the session ($10pp) Click here to reserve your spot - 20 Spots Available.
